How did someone with crooked teeth now has perfect teeth?

Sorry that im kind of ignorant about his dental stuff but this guy i know had crooked teeth all of them were like that. I loved them lol bu now when i saw him again cus he was out of town for a while, He has perfect teeth! How did that happend? He wont tell me!! Can you tell me? Thanks:D
