Socializing my puppy?

My new puppy is a Schnoodle. (A schnauzer and a poodle mix, she takes after schnauzer more though) and she is easygoing, and laid back, but she can be very hyper when it comes to playtime. She is a little less than a foot tall, and won't grow to be very big. She is around 14 weeks, which means she is t critical point in socialization. I introduced her to some of our neighbor's dogs, who were around the same size, bu one of them was smaller, and she went wild. She started jumping up and down on them, and even nipped few times. The neighbor's dogs freaked out and started to back away from her (they were all on leashes) so I held her back from jumping on top of these other dogs. What can do to make her calm down enough to socialize correctly?The dog before her, Lola, always attacked other dogs and people, so I'm unfamiliar. Especially since Lola was an adult when we got her, so I know very little about puppy socialization. Plus, my new puppy always growls when she see's larger dogs. She's terrified of them, which makes me think she has had little contact with other dogs. There aren't any dog parks nearby so...
