Can I start taking ortho tri cylen low although I haven't seen my period?

I stopped taking lo loestrin Fe over a month ago and have not seen my period, that particular brand made me extremly depressed and conjured thoughts of suicide, so that is why I stopped. The regular lo estrin not the (lo - lo-estrin) bu the original, made me bloated, gain weight, and mood swings, but otherwise worked well. So I just got fed up and said NO MORE birht control, I dont have sex, my doctor prescribed it to regulate my cycle, and it cleared my acne. But now my acne is comming back and my face is a lot more oily so I want to try ortho tri cyclen, but aren' t you suppose to start it the day of your period? Is it okay if I just take it tonight?
